Welcome to one of the most incredible years your child will have in his/her school career! First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions and learning new skills is accelerated. It will be exciting, demanding, and fulfilling!
During First Grade, your child will learn how to read, write stories, add, subtract, and so much more. They will be encouraged to flourish in a safe and engaging environment. I consider it a privilege to teach at Glenpool Elementary, and I will do my best to structure our classroom so that each child can achieve their highest potential. I promise to provide stimulating educational experiences to help them blossom academically, socially, and emotionally, in a safe, nurturing environment.. It is your responsibility to have your child arrive at school on time, ready, and able to learn. A happy, well-rested child is better prepared to meet the exciting challenges of school each day.
Read to your child or have your child read to you as often as possible. Help your child with any homework they may have each night. Share your child’s experiences of the day, including daily notices and work found in their Bear Binder. Let your child know that his/her new learning is exciting and wonderful! Celebrate your child's success, no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work and this private sharing time will be very rewarding!
